5 Days to the Moroccan Desert from Marrakech

Day 1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate

Start your adventure with an early pickup in Marrakech. Drive through the stunning High Atlas Mountains and stop at Tizi-N-Tichka for panoramic views. Visit the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site featured in movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert.” Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, explore Ouarzazate, including the Atlas Studios and the Taourirt Kasbah. Drive through the Draa Valley, famous for its palm groves and kasbahs. Enjoy lunch in Nkob, then head to the Merzouga Desert. Experience a sunset camel ride to a luxury camp, where you can enjoy Berber music and spend the night under the stars.

Day 3: Exploring Merzouga

Wake up early to witness a magical sunrise in the desert. After breakfast, ride back to Merzouga on camels. Spend the day exploring the region: visit nomadic families, the village of Khamlia for Gnaoua music, and Merzouga Lake, home to flamingos. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and take a walk through a palm grove. Overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 4: Merzouga – Dades Valley

Leave the desert for Rissani, known for its lively souks. After exploring, continue to Erfoud to see fossilized marble workshops. Drive through the Todra Gorges, a spectacular canyon perfect for hiking. After lunch, head to the Dades Valley, stopping at the iconic rock formations known as “Monkey Fingers.” Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel.

Day 5: Dades Valley – Marrakech

On your last day, visit Kalaa Magouna to see the Valley of Roses, famous for its annual Rose Festival in May. Explore the Amridil Kasbah and the palm groves of Skoura. After lunch in Ouarzazate, return to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains. You will be dropped off at your accommodation or the airport, concluding your unforgettable adventure in Morocco.
