11-Day Tour of Morocco: From Casablanca






Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca
Pick up at the airport or your accommodation. Visit the Hassan II Mosque, the largest in Morocco, and stroll along the Corniche of Casablanca. Enjoy free time for lunch. Overnight stay in a hotel.
Day 2: Casablanca – Rabat – Chefchaouen
After breakfast, drive along the coast to Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Visit Hassan Tower, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of the Oudayas. After a lunch break, head north through Ouazzane to reach Chefchaouen, the famous “Blue City” in the Rif Mountains. Overnight stay in a hotel.
Day 3: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes
After breakfast, enjoy free time to wander the charming blue streets of Chefchaouen. Then, head to the Volubilis Roman Ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its well-preserved mosaics, ancient columns, and historic arches. After exploring the site, continue to Meknes, another imperial city, where we visit Bab Al-Mansour, Sahrij Souani, the Royal Stables, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. In the afternoon, proceed to Fes for an overnight stay in a riad.
Day 4: Guided Tour of Fes
Spend the day discovering the treasures of Fes with a local guide. The city, known as a cultural and religious center of Morocco, begins with a visit to the Royal Palace and the medieval Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Enter through Bab Boujloud and explore the medina, visiting the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Nejjarine Fountain, the tanneries, and the Al Qarawiyyin University, the oldest university in the world. Then, head to the Jewish Quarter, known as the Mellah. In the afternoon, ascend to an ancient fortress for a panoramic view of the city before returning to the riad.
Day 5: Fes – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga
After breakfast, travel south through Imouzzer to visit Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine architecture and cool temperatures. Continue to the Cedar Forest, home to Barbary macaques, where you can observe and feed them. Proceed to Midelt for lunch, then drive through Tizi-n-Tilghmt Pass and the Ziz Valley, making several stops along the way to enjoy panoramic views.
In the afternoon, arrive at the Sahara Desert in Merzouga, where we switch vehicles for camels to cross the sand dunes. Stop at a high dune to admire the sunset before continuing to the desert camp. Enjoy Berber music around the campfire under a starry sky. Dinner and overnight stay in the camp.
Day 6: Exploring Merzouga – Nomads – Khamlia – Merzouga Lake – Palm Grove
Waking up early is essential to see the beautiful sunrise in the desert. After breakfast, return to Merzouga on camels, where your driver awaits. Spend the day exploring the area known for its dunes, wild lakes, mines, fossils, and oases.
Begin with an off-road drive to visit an ancient kohl mine. Then, visit nomadic families in their handmade wool tents to learn about their lifestyle while enjoying Berber tea. Our next stop is Khamlia, where we attend a performance of traditional Gnawa music and dances, performed by descendants of slaves from Sudan, Mali, and Niger. After lunch at a local restaurant, take a walk through a palm grove and visit Merzouga Lake, also known as the Flamingo Lake. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.
Day 7: Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
After breakfast, leave the desert and head to Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet, known for its bustling traditional market. After a brief visit, continue to Erfoud, where you will visit a fossil workshop. Then, drive through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad to reach the stunning Todra Gorges, a canyon with reddish cliffs ideal for climbing. Enjoy free time to stroll and have lunch before continuing to the Dades Valley, stopping at the “Monkey Fingers” rock formation and a viewpoint for panoramic views of the valley. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.
Day 8: Dades Valley – Valley of Roses – Skoura Palms – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Telouet – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech
After breakfast, continue to Kelaa M’Gouna to visit the Valley of Roses, famous for its annual rose festival in May, where rose products are sold. Then, pass through the Skoura Palms and reach Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Desert,” where we visit its film studios.
Our next stop is the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site and filming location for movies like Gladiator and series like Game of Thrones. After lunch, cross the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass in the High Atlas and arrive in Marrakech. Overnight stay in a riad.
Day 9: Guided Tour of Marrakech
After breakfast, explore Marrakech with a local guide. Visit the Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the Ben Youssef Madrasa, and the largest souk in Morocco. After lunch near Jemaa el-Fna Square, visit the Koutoubia Mosque and the Majorelle Garden. In the afternoon, you can explore Jemaa el-Fna Square at your leisure.
Day 10: Marrakech – Essaouira
After breakfast, drive to Essaouira, stopping to see goats in argan trees along the way. Upon arrival in Essaouira, explore its fishing port, ancient ramparts with cannons, and historic medina. Overnight stay in a hotel.
Day 11: Essaouira – Casablanca
On the last day, depart from Essaouira to Casablanca along the coast, with stops to enjoy scenic views. Finally, arrive at Casablanca Airport, where the tour concludes.
